ECONOMIC TALKS

Canterbury Men Go

The president of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association (Mr A. S. Farrar) and an executive member, Mr H. W. Revell, yesterday left for Australia for talks on economic development. They will attend the fifth annual meeting of Australian and New Zealand manufacturers in Canberra. The talks will include the effects of devaluation and the New Zealand-Australia Free Trade Agreement.

Messrs Farrar and Revell will also discuss industrial cooperation, including collaboration in standards between Australia and New Zealand and the procedures for calling Australian Government tenders.

Delegates will also take part in a four-way meeting with officials of the Australian and New Zealand Governments to discuss the Free Trade Agreement.

The New Zealand delegation is led by the president of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation, Mr R. G. Speirs, of Invercargill.
