Charge For Bookings

<N.Z. Preti Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 16. The new charges to be made by the Government Tourist Bureau on all rail, boat and accommodation bookings, announced in May this year for introduction in July, will now be introduced on October 1. In Parliament the Minister of Tourism (Mr Thomson) said the charges had been delayed because of the price freeze. The new charges were being imposed to help meet the cost of providing booking services, he said. About 20c will be charged on rail and boat bookings—all airline bookings are exempt from the charges. The first two transport reservations in any one series of bookings will be free. Accommodation bookings will carry a charge of 50c.
