STRIKERS RETURN

Dispute Over Height Rate (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 15. Between 25 and 30 roofing and wall ciadders at the steel mill site at Glenbrook returned to work this morning after striking on Friday afternoon for an extra 8c an hour height allowance. The men, after meeting this morning, returned to work on the advice of their union, so that the union could negotiate with employers tomorrow. The secretary of the Carpenters’ Union, Mr A. Mr H. Gaudin was elected president of the Cancer Society of New Zealand at the annual meeting in Auckland. Other officers: vice-presidents, Dr G. W. Gower and Mr J. Tyler; trustees, Sir Duncan Stout, Dr P. P. Lynch, Mr M. J. Kennedy; secretary-trea-surer, Mr J. Murphy.
