I 'I Up to the end of August, : 50,148 students had applied • to the Education Department . to sit this year’s School Certif ficate examination, in which passes can be gained for the ■ first time in single subjects. This figure represents a 16 . . per cent increase over the total that sat the examination ■ last year, and includes 1700 • applications from the Pacific . Islands. I The dates for the examina- ''• tion will be from Tuesday , | November 19, to Tuesday, Dei cember 3. The University Entrance ex- | amination begins on Novem- , ber 25 and ends on Decern- < ber 3. The days when particu- ( lar subjects would be examined are not yet decided. The results of accrediting for the university entrance s examination would be an- i nounced at secondary schools ; on November 8. The dates for the Univer- i 1 sity Scholarship examination 1 , are from November 20 to De- 1 cember 4, and the University I bursary examination from 1 November 21 to November 29 ] The Chamber of Commerce , ■ examinations this year will i be held from November 4 to 1 November 8. i
