Vegetable Prices
Broad beans and other early spring vegetables have not yet come to hand at Christchurch produce markets, but other vegetables are in reasonable supplies. Prices, at yesterdays mar kets, were quoted as firm on recent sales. Leeks, spinach, and rhubarb were in plentiful supply. The official price list supplied by the Christchurch Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers’ Association is: Silver Beet —To $1.70 a case. Beetroot —3oc a box. Pumpkins.—To $6 a sack. Cabbages.—Local Savoy: $2 a case. Spring: To $1.60 a case. Carrots.—To $1.40 a case. Cauliflowers.—To $1.70 a case. Onions.—To $2.60 a sugar-bag. Parsnips.—To $1.50 a case. Sprouts.—s 3 to $6.90 a case. Swedes.—To $1.20 a sugar-bag. Potatoes.—Boc to $1 a sugarbag. Kumeras.—To $3.50 a case. Spring Onions.—To $1.05 a dozen bunches. Radishes.—To $1.05 a dozen bunches. Lettuces.—Oamaru: To $3.25 a case. Glasshouse: To $2.80 a case. Leeks.—4oc to $1.20 a case. Spinach.—6oc to $1.20 a case. Rhubarb.—s2 to $3.20 a dozen bunches. Tomatoes.—2Bc to 60c a pound. Grapefruit $2.25 to $4 a case. Tamarillos.—s2.so to $3.50 a ease. Chinese Gooseberries. To $2.25 a tray.
