Anniversary Of Church

About 200 persons, including the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in New Zealand (the Rt Rev. E. G. Jansen), attended a dinner in the memorial hall. Springfield on Saturday evening, to mark :he ninetieth anniversary of the Malvern Presbyterian Church. The speaker at the dinner was the Rev. J. Barker, an Anglican minister, who represented the other churches in the district The Moderator of the Christchurch Presbytery (Mr G. W. Wallis) also attended. During the evening several

slides and photographs of past-ministers and other persons and ’terns of interest were shown. Some of the past ministers gave a talk on their recollections of the parish. Yesterday about 300 persons attended a service conducted by the minister of the parish (the Rev. E. R. J. Smith) in the Sheffield Community Centre. The sermon was preached by Mr Jansen and the readings were given by two past-ministers of the parish the Revs J. Van Royen and D. K. Boyd. A tea was held after the service.
