Team Walks Off

(N.Z. Press Association) O AMARU. After a number of incidents in the senior hockey game between Tainui Blue and the competition leader, Oamaru Black, Oamaru’s captain, G. Brown, led his team from the field after 20 minutes of the first half at Awamoa Park on Saturday. The match between the two top teams—Oamaru is in an unassailable position —was a rugged one from the beginning. One umpire, Mr D. Norman, called both captains together after rough play in Oamaru’s circle. The other umpire, Mr J. Sherwin, at the same time appealed to players to concentrate on the game. Within the first 10 minutes two players had been warned for rough tactics. Oamaru was leading 1-nil when the team walked from the field and forfeited the game.
