NO CAMERA TO HELP

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. A power failure in the Thames district on Saturday disrupted communications at the Thames races, and gave the judge. Mr H. P. Clarkin, the chance to test his eye. Mr Clarkin placed Argohead first in the Pipiroa Handicap by a nose from Top Fox, and although the latter was the win favourite, the decision was greeted with applause. The last time Mr Clarkin judged without the aid of the camera was at Avondale in May, 1965. At that time a new stand was being constructed.
