“It ought to be compulsory to take a passenger with you in the car today—to read all the road signs,” said Cr L. J. Stokes at a meeting of the Rangiora County Council yesterday. The large Humber of direction signs and hoardings erected on roadsides made concentration on driving difficult, he said.
Other councillors expressed similar views, and a sub-committee will investigate signs at Woodend and Pines Beach.
