CHRISTCHURCH DRAINAGE BOARD NOTICE OF INTENTION TO INTRODUCE BILL NOTICE is hereby given of the intention of the Christchurch Drainage Board to Introduce in Parliament a Bill: a summary of the objects of which Bill is as follows: (a) Making clear the power of the Board to levy a charge for sewerage services and inspections thereof in respect of non-rateable property. (b) Empowering the Board to fix a fee for the reception into its drainage or sewerage system of cooling or condensing water. (c) Empowering the Board to lead surface water into any water course. (d) Empowering the Board to insure members thereof against loss from personal accident arising in the course of their duties. (e) Amending the definition of “water course.” (f) Defining the term "elector” in respect of a poll under the Board’s Act. (g) Empowering the Board to erect buildings and machinery not only "within” but "without” the Board’s district. (h) Clarifying the power of the Board with regard to its rights in respect of dams in water courses. (i) Repealing and re-enacting Section 54 of the Christchurch District Drainage Act, 1951, requiring plans of subdivision to be submitted to the Board and determining conditions upon which approval may be given or refused. (j) Clarifying the right of the Board in respect of salaries and allowances to its officers so as to ensure that these may include attendances by such officers at conferences, meetings or courses of study or training. (k) Empowering the Board to make a by-law providing for the payment of reasonable fees for inspections and other services.
