A portrait of President Johnson has been completed and approved and will be placed in the White House after Mr and Mrs Johnson retire from public life next January.

Mrs Elizabeth Carpenter, press secretary to Mrs Johnson, said the President was very pleased with the portrait painted by Madam Elizabeth Shoumatoff, who did three portraits of President Franklin D. Roosevelt
