Parliament’s Diary

Four new bills were Introduced and read a first time when Parliament resumed yesterday afternoon. They were: The Swaziland Bill, the Niue Island Amendment (No. 2) Bill, the R.N.Z.A.F. Amendment Bill, and the Explosives Amendment Bill.

Mr A. J. Faulkner (Lab. Roskill) presented a petition with 1176 signatures asking for special economic arrangements for elderly people.

Ministers answered 15 questions. The Nelson City Empowering Bill was introduced by Mr S. A. Whitehead (Lab. Nelson).

During the evening the House continued with the discussion of Mr Hanan’s estimates, for which urgency was taken.
