BUTTER AND FLOUR

Decrease In Sales (N.Z. Press Association) I WELLINGTON, Sept. 10. There has been a slight drop in sales of butter and flour since the subsidies on the items were removed last year. The Minister of Customs (Mr Shelton), on behalf of the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Marshall) told Mr J. F. Luxton (Nat., Piako) in Parliament today that for the year ended December 31, 1967, butter sales were 49,316 tons. This was a fall of 3.5 per cent on the 51,100 tons sold in the previous year. Mr Shelton said flour sales in the year ended January 31, 1967, were 241,844 tons, but during the year ended January 31, 1968, only 230,322 tons were sold.
