Rebuff For An-An

(N.Z P.A. -Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 10. Chi-Chi, tpe London Zoo’s female panda, yesterday cuffed An-An, her suitor from the Moscow Zoo, when they were left alone in the same cage for the first time. An-An, who had ambled over to Chi-Chi in a friendly way, responded to the rebuff sensibly—he promptly hauled himself on to a pile of logs and dozed off. Zoo officials, who have been trying to mate the couple for two years, took the incident philosphically. “These little tiffs are quite natural with pandas." a spokesman said.
