Sir, —Professor W. R. Philipson, back yesterday from the mountains of New Guinea, describes them as “beautiful country,” often resembling ours. 1 recently saw a photograph taken two months ago on a cattle ranch in the New Guinea highlands. It shows half an acre of tea bushes grown for the benefit of the owner and staff There could perhaps be some place in New Zealand where tea might be grown for ourselves and for export.—Yours, etc.,
