Premises Praised
Praise for the efforts of a number of private organisations and local bodies in improving the appearance of their premises or street frontages has been given by the Christchurch Civic Trust in its monthly newsletter. It singles out:—The New Regent Street Association for the attractive new look given to the street; the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company for an attractively planted shop frontage at Belfast; Palmer and Doak, Ltd, for preserving trees on their Kaiapoi premises; the Waimairi County Council for the attractive treatment and preservation of oaks in Straven Road; the Kaiapoi Borough Council for its stand against the Railways Department over the erection of hoardings at the Kaiapoi railway crossing; A. J. White, Ltd, for the attractive way shop premises have been redecorated; the Christchurch City Council for the new bridge and the closing of Cambridge Terrace at Madras Street; and the A.N.Z. Bank for its premises in Victoria -Street
