Work To Begin Soon (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Sept. 8. Work is about to begin on the adaptation of the former South Island Motors building in Armagh Street, Christchurch, to form the Armagh Post Office. This was announced by the Postmaster General (Mr Scott). The new office will replace the one in Armstrong’s department store. Full Post Office services will be available, with customer parking on the neighbouring site. Part of the building will be used for staff-training purposes. It is hoped to have the new office in operation in about three months time, said Mr Scott.
Wage Legislation.—Legislation arising from the report of the Royal Commission on salary and wage fixing was expected to be introduced during this session of Parliament, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said last night.— (PA.)
