President Of P.P.T.A.
The New Zealand Postprimary Teachers' Association, at the closing session of its annual conference, inducted as president Mr C. B. Newenham, of Nelson College.
Mr Newenham, who has been a vice-president, has been an executive member for several years and, in local and regional branches, has been actively associated with association activities for most of his professional career. For the first few years, while on the staff of the Nelson Intermediate School, he was an active member of the New Zealand Educational Institute. Mr Newenham entered the teaching service in Nelson in 1945, after training at Christchurch Teachers’ College for two years, after which he was on military service with the Canterbury Regiment in New Zealand, followed by three years service here and overseas with the R.N.Z.A.F. During 1948 and 1950 he had leave for full-time study at Victoria University, where he took an active interest in the Debating Society and the Plunket Medal oratory contests, and graduated B.A. In 1955 Mr Newenham was appointed to the staff of Nelson College, teaching English,
