KAIKOURA STAKES
Increase Of $450
Stakes have been Increased by 3450 for th« Kaikoura Trotting Club’s annual meeting on November 4. The additional prize-money will enable the club to run the Stewards' Handicap, for 2:20 class pacers, in two divisions.
Stakes for the other race* on the nine-race programme have been maintained at the same level as last year. The principal event, the Kaikoura Cup, will carry a (2000 stake and a trophy valued at *lOO. This race will again be tor pacers assessed at 2:11 and faster and will be run under Invitation conditions.
Young Prince For N.S.W. The consistent pacer, Young Prince, has been secured by Mr R. S. Dixon, of Sydney, but formerly of South Canterbury where he trained with a fair measure of success a few years ago. The seven-year-old entire by Prince from Debate, a sister of a champion trotter in Moon Boy, is unlikely to start again In New Zealand and be has been withdrawn from the H. E Goggin Handicap at Addington Raceway on Saturday Young Prince last season gained five wins and seven placings from 23 starts and won $4790 for Mr V. C. Norris, who purchased him at a hack price. A. J. Nixon, of Weedons, trained Young Prince for one win. He was prepared for the others by R. W. Townley, who drove him in all of his five wins.
