TRACKING STATION

Only Two Tenders

Although plans of the Baker-Nunn satellite tracking camera station at Tekapo have been in the hands of 10 New Zealand building contractors for several weeks, only two bids had been received when tenders closed at 4 p.m. yesterday at the United States Navy base at Christchurch airport. Tenders will be considered for the next two days pro vided postmarks show they were posted by 4 p.m. yester. day, according to a Navy spokesman. A contractor is expected to be selected in about two weeks. Approval will be given by the officer in charge of naval construction in the middle Pacific, whose base is at Hawaii, after he has considered recommendations by the public works officer at Harewood.
