LIMIT TO RESERVES
Union May Decide (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Measures limiting Rugby teams to no more than four reserves might be Introduced next season, the chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Union (Mr T. C. Morrison) said yesterday. The question would probably be discussed at a council meeting before next year’s annual meeting. Earlier this year, the union’s executive recommended that unions restrict their reserves for all matches to four. Some unions, notably Hawke’s Bay and Auckland, appeared to have ignored the recommendation, he said. For its Ranfurly Shield match against Counties on Saturday. Hawke's Bay has named 10 reserves. Auckland, several times this season, has had eight or nine. Mr Morrison said the New Zealand union had no power to force provinces to field only four reserves.
