CUSTARD SQUARES A Delicious Recipe |lb PUFFBAKE Flakey Pastry li breakfast cups milk 2oz butter 2 heaped tablespoons cornflour 3 tablespoons icing sugar 1 egg. Vanilla Essence. Pastry.—Cut In half and roll each piece very thin; prick well with fork all over. Place on two oven trays and bake 10-15 minutes at 450 degrees Fahrenheit Custard.—Heat 1 cup milk with butter. Mix cornflour, sugar with remainder of milk to a smooth paste and add beaten egg. Pour in hot milk and butter and return to saucepan. Heat until thick and cook a further 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add vanilla. When pastry is cold spread warm custard on one part thickly and place other pastry on top. Ice top with lemon icing. MAKE SURE YOU USE “PUFFBAKE” PASTRY. —Advt.
