BLIND, BUT HE PAINTS MATCHES.—Mr Alfred Tanz, aged 75, of Bundoora, Melbourne, who is blind in the left eye and has only 5 per cent sight in the right, working on a match painting of Sydney Harbour Bridge. With the help of a magnifier fixed to a special pair of spectacle frames he can just see his work. Each of his paintings takes about three or four months. The thousands of matchsticks used in his pictures are supplied by neighbours and friends. Mr Tanz was a commercial artist and painter before he lost his sight in an industrial accident 15 years ago.
