Firm, Busy Start To Trading Week
Activity on New Zealand stock exchanges was much greater than usual for a Monday yesterday, with trading spread over a wide range. The trend was firm, rises outnumbering falls almost four to one.
Price movements were moderate, with some strong gains from companies which have recently released good reports. Armstrong and Springhan, which has announced a 24 per cent profit rise, gained 15c to 165 c.
Mount Cook gained another 10c to finish at 200 c, and R.
W. Saunders continued to rise, firming 2c to 212 c.
N.Z. Insurance, which has announced a significant minority interest in Victoria insurance, rose 9c to 365 c, to lead a firm insurance group. Leaders were generally strong, N.Z. Forest rising 9c to 371 c and N.Z. Refrigerating and C.F.M. each rising 3c to 119 c and 150 c.
