THEORY DISPROVED
Z P A.-Reuter—Copyright) CHICAGO, Aug. 30. New Hampshire’s delegation to the Democratic Party’s national convention lost its chairman last night —he was taken into custody by the Chicago police. Mr David Hoeh was seized when he attempted to show that an ordinary credit card would activate the electronic machines which scan the credentials of delegates and others seeking admittance to the convention hall. “These things are phony
—any old credit card will work,” he said to fellowdelegates, and put a credit card into the slot to prove his point. The indicator light showed red and an usher called the police, who took him away. The machine shows a green light when it is satisfied with the admittance card. Mr Hoeh was later released without any charges being filed, having been held in custody for an hour.
