Education
Sir, —As attendance at school is not compulsory until a child is six, cannot the Education Department's ruling, that only trained teachers may teach in primary schools, be circumvented by claiming that five-
year olds are not under the control of the Education Department, and therefore parental help can be given voluntarily in the first year? Voluntary help seems to be available and could be used until more paid teachers are forthcoming. Tape - recorded lessons could be made for the mothers to play back to sections of the class not being managed by the teacher.— Yours, etc., IMAGINATION. August 24, 1968.
