Contraceptives Proposal
Any official pronouncement by the Canterbury University Council on the proposal by the Students’ Association executive to install two contra-ceptive-vending machines will probably be delayed until after the special general meeting of students on Monday, September 9. A sampling of student opinion yesterday indicated that the meeting will drop the idea.
The University Council will meet on the afternoon of September 9 and the students’ general meeting, called last term for a constitutional matter to be considered, will be held in the evening. At that meeting, Mr L. Wright’s motion for rescission of the contraceptives decision will be discussed. The Student Liaison Committee, to which the Vice-Chancellor (Professor N. C. Phillips) said he would refer the issue is to meet on Wednesday, September 11.
