New Editor Chosen

Mr B. A. Mair, deputy editor of the “Christchurch Star,” has been appointed editor to succeed Mr G. Burns, who will retire on September 30. Mr Mair, who was educated at Christ’s College, joined the newspaper in 1929. He was Its Parliamentary reporter from 1941 to 1946; and on his return to Christchurch was appointed a leader writer. He became assistant editor In 1947 and deputy-editor three years ago. Mr Mair has made several overseas study trips. He is a keen golfer, and used to take a prominent part in swimming and surfing.
