BUILDING A CUPOLA
Creating a cupola for the garage or a wing of the house can be a rewarding task for a capable home workshop enthusiast. The plan shown suggests that the job is perhaps not as daunting as it might have been imagined.

Using the plan accom- ’ guide, the following steps | re recommended : L Cut upright cove moulding same height as 10uvre frames and assemble so edges are flush with front of louvres.
2. Cut and assemble floor and ceiling from threeeighths inch plywood. Dab small amount of glue on posts, then glue together. 3. Cut and assemble base. Angular cut must match pitch of your roof. Make diagonal cuts. Attach base to plywood floor. 4. Cut and attach rafters. Use wood screws and sink heads below the surface. Cut and attach to roof of cupola. 5. Cut and mitre all moulding. Assemble with glue and brads. 6. Sink all nail heads and fill holes with putty. Next prime and paint desired colour. 7. If copper roofing is to be used, cut it to size and place over plywood. Carefully solder joints. Weathervanes may be obtained at any good hardware store. Building materials, excluding weathervane, should average about $25.
