Protest By Synod

A motion condemning the invasion of Czechoslovakia was passed by the annual synod of the North Canterbury district of the Methodist Church last evening. The motion said: “This synod condemns unreservedly the action of Soviet Russia and her allies in invading Czechoslovakia and expresses the deepest sympathy with the leaders and people of that country and records its belief that such action endangers world peace.” The text of the motion will be sent to the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) and the Soviet Embassy in Wellington.
