Hokitika, invites written tenders for the purchase of an annual supply of timber for twenty (20 > years from State Forest 41 and/or other State Forests in the locality. 2. The timber under offer is an annual supply of Two Hundred and Sixty-two Thousand Five Hundred <262.500) cubic feet of podocarp species of which 237,500 cubic feet may be sawn. 3. Initially tenders are invited for Sawmilling Area 992 which is situated in Block XIII Wanganui Survey District, and tS estimated to contain 689.900 cubic feet approximately 99 per cent being Rimu and Miro. Upset prices are— Rimu Miro 7.5 c per cu. ft Kahikatea 7.5 c per cu. ft Hinau 2.7 c per cu. ft 4. Tenderers must state the price per cubic foot they are prepared to pay for each species and the prices tendered will be taken into account in valuing subsequent areas. 5. Tenders will be considered only from existing Sawmilling Companies prepared to undertake, on a continuing basis processing and remanufacture in Westland of a minimum of 80 per cent of the rough sawn timber produced from each sale area. 6. Preference will be given to tenders from Sawmillers prepared to enter into a group agreement with other sawmillers to supply a minimum of 80 per cent of the output of rough sawn timber to a central processing plant in Westland and prepared to develop improved conversion practices in bush and mill. 7. The commencing date of the 20-year period of sale will be December 1, 1968. Should the successful tenderer be an operator established in State Forest, the timber remaining on his current licence at the sale commencement date will become part of the 20-year quantity but will be charged for at existing rates. The timber offered in Sawmilling Area 992 may be subject to revaluation at the expiry of an existing licence. 8. Upon completion of cutting in Sawmill Area 992 further quantities of timber will be sold at Forest Service valuation. Revaluation of timber supplied will be made at intervals of not more than two years. 9. The successful tenderer will be required to form and maintain any roading required. 10. The Conservator reserves the right to supply logs in lieu of standing trees not sooner than 3 years from sale commencement date. 11. The successful tenderer may be required to clear fell all ” residual cover remaining after logging. 12. The successful tenderer will be required to offer for ■ sale to a South Island Manu- ; facturer of plywood or veneer as large a q'uantity of the ; monthly output of logs as possible for the manufacture of plywood or veneer.
