OVERSEAS TRADING
SYDNEY The announcement of increasing hostilities in Czechoslovakia had a bearish effect on the market in the afternoon session of trading. Metals Exploration, which was one of the few nickels to gain ground in the morning session, was cut back 60c to record a last sale of 950 c. Great Boulder, Norseman, Loloma and Ravensthorpe continued to ease.
Uranium stocks were also hit with M.K.U., Kathleen Investments and Queensland Mines finishing below Tuesday’s closing prices.
One of the few mining stocks to go against the trend was Silver Valley, which put on 15c to 155 c.
On the oil boards Kamilaroi stood out with the shares registering a 25c gain to 130 c. Oil Search recorded the biggest fall in the oil section with the shares selling 13c lower at 115 c.
B.H.P. continued to ease, with the shares taking off 50c to 2210 c.
Slater Walker, after selling up to as high as 980 c in the morning session of trading, sold unchanged at 900 c.
