W.R.A.F.S As Guides
(By ZALIA THOMAS) LONDON, Aug. 21. Airwomen serving at the Far East Air Force station at Changi, Singapore, were recently shopping guides and advisers to a party of Victoria Cross and George Cross holders and relatives, who were on their way to Sarawak, Australia, New Zealand and to units in Malaysia. The 193 veterans were returning home after attending a reunion in Britain arranged by the Victoria and George Cross Association.
The party flew to Singapore aboard an R.A.F. aircraft and stayed at the R.A.F.’s Changi Creek Hotel. After being escorted by W.R.A.F.S on a shopping tour of Changi Village, they were taken on a sight-seeing tour of Singapore.
In the evening the visitors were guests at the Officers’ Club, Changi, where they met members of Headquarters Far East Air Force, the Royal Australian Air Force, and the Royal New Zealand Air Force, as well as members of several high commissions and members of a Gurkha brigade. Three of the Gurkhas flew to New Zealand for a brief visit before returning to their unit in Malaysia.
Keeping Soap.—lt is economical to store cakes of soap unwrapped in an airing cupboard or in a lingerie drawer. The soap will harden and last longer when out of wrappers and the scent of it will perfume clothing.
