New Members Appointed W.Z. Fre«a SMoeiotion) WELLINGTON, August 20. I Miss E. E. Carpenter, of Dunedin, Mr J. N. Laurenson, of Wellington, and Mr M. A. Harris, of Wanganui, have been appointed to the Consumer Council. The deputy chairman, Mrs J. L. Hunter, of Wellington, has been reappointed. Miss Carpenter is a senior lecturer at the University of Otago and is president of the Dunedin Consumer Association. Mr Laurenson is a recently retired company director with a keen interest in community affaire. Mr Harris is deputy chairman of the Wanganui Hospital Board and an active member of community organisations.

Reported Welt—AU eight survivors of heart transplants at St Luke’s Hospital, Houston, Texas, are reported in good condition today, and the patient in the hospital’s first case, Mr Everett Thomas, has gone home for a brief visit— Houston, August 20.
