SCHOOLS’ SOCCER
New Assn Formed (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Delegates at a meeting during the Auckland secondary schools’ soccer tournament yesterday agreed to the formation of a national secondary schools’ football association.
Its aims will be to promote the game throughout New Zealand secondary schools and to encourage further tournaments, similar to the one being held in Auckland at present and in Christchurch last year. Mr F. Worn (Auckland Grammar) was elected chairman of the association, and Mr p. Comer (Shirley Boys’ High School) the secretary. Messrs R. Hill (Wellington College), M. Mcßae (Christchurch Boys’ High School), and M. Cliffe (Auckland secondary schools) will form the committee.
A constitution and set of tournament rules were adopted at the meeting, and these, together with an affiliation form, will shortly be forwarded to all secondary schools. It is hoped that three or more tournaments will be held in 1969.
