Apple Wine, Brandy
The Apple and Pear Marketing Board saw the need for more versatility in its activities, said its chairman (Mr S. D. Sinclair) at the Canterbury provincial conference of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation, Ltd, yesterday. Next year, he said, the board, subject to the availability of equipment, would be producing apple concentrate, and would be on to the ground floor of making apple : wine.
“Even though people seem to find fruit expensive to buy, they don’t mind drinking it,” he said. “We can make apple wine, and possibly an apple-based brandy which loses nothing ip comparison with grape brandy.”
