Success For A. Fowler
**The Press" Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. The Ashhurst trainer, A. Fowler, saddled his first winner of the season and his tenth in just over 12 months when Autobe revelled in the heavy ground to outclass the Carterton Racing Club Handicap field at Tauhe* renikau on Saturday. Autobe had one of the easiest open handicap successes seen in the district for some time. Fowler owns Autobe, which is a big chestnut by Potent from Hibiscus. , ~ Fowler has done remarkably well with his small team in the last 12 months. Horses from his stable won $9BOO in the season just concluded. Escameno won $4075. Just Wishing $2720, Autobe $lB4O, Penny Lane $75; Ahab $540 and Scotch Seaman $550. Fowler trains a handy-sized team on the old Ashhurst racecourse. He has just returned from a campaign in the north. Just Wishing and Escameno failed to win on the trip, but were placed several times. Just Wishing was badly galloped on at Tauranga and Fowler expects her to be out until the late summer. Escameno was rested on ms return home. He wiilil be recommissioned shortly and may race at Trentham in October. Penny Lane, which was given a let up with a cold several weeks ago. will be brought back to work in a few days. Fowler has several promts* ing youngsters in his etabllshment. He paraded a likely type in Wishawav at the Carterton meeting. The half-brother to Just Wishing showed enough tn the Carrington Stakes to suggest he will reach useful form with a Uttfle more experience.
