RESCUE WORK
Misgivings In Blenheim (N.Z. Press Association i BLENHEIM, Aug. 19. The Marlborough Search and Rescue Organisation is concerned about the lack of co-ordination between search and rescue organisations in Marlborough and the Christchurch police in the search for the injured hunter at Goose Bay during the weekend.
In a statement, the organisation said today that highly trained teams could have been put into the field on Friday night if a request had been made.
“It would appear obvious that the search was controlled from Christchurch,” said the statement.
There was a danger in dual control in the province between police districts. The Christchurch district came to within 55 miles of Blenheim. The statement said that although medical evidence showed that the hunter had died from a gunshot wound on Thursday the principle was unchanged.
