THE BERLIN WALL, which was built in 1961 and completely cuts off one half of the city from the Other, is continually being strengthened. Workmen are shown erecting prefabricated concrete sections near “Checkpoint Charlie,” the crossing-point for foreigners. The workmen are under the constant surveillance of Soviet Zone border guards. This work will make the wall 10ft high, and three miles have already been “modernised" in this way.
