FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation.—An anticyclone centred southeast of New Zealand extends a ridge of high pressure across the South Island to the central Tasman Sea. A depression north-east of Northland is moving away. Forecast. Canterbury.—Light to moderate variable winds; cloudy areas, especially near the coast, otherwise fine; moderate afternoon temperatures. Buller, Westland and Nelson.—Light or moderate easterlies predominating; fine apart from a few fog areas at first; moderate afternoon temperatures. Marlborough.—South-east winds still strong about Cook Strait, elsewhere moderate; scattered showers in coastal areas, mainly fine inland. Outlook.—All districts: fine. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
