Maori Sports Tournament
The host team, Woodend, won the South Island Maori sports tournament at Rangiora on Sat* urday. Thirty teams from Picton to Dunedin, including one comprising Chatham Islands girls, competed. Results were: Basketball.—Senior: Huimal 1, Woodend A 2. Junior: Woodend A 1, Black Watch (Tuahiwi) 2. Midgets: Woodend A 1, Huirapa 2. Marching.—Senior: Woodend C 1, Woodend A 2. Junior: Woodend A 1, Rapakl 2. Midgets: Rapakl 1, Huirapa 2. Action Song.—Black Watch 1, Woodend 2.
Aggregate Points Trophy.— Woodend.
