Marlborough did not impress as a team likely to beat Hawke’s Bay in its Ranfurly Shield challenge next week when it beat Buller, 11-3, in a Seddon Shield match at Westport on Saturday. The visitors made many elementary errors. For Marlborough. R. Sutherland, playing his one hundredth match for his province, scored a try. L. Sparks kicked a penalty and conversion and K. Hodges a dropped goal. C. Tinetti kicked a penalty for Buller. Results of other matches were: Wanganui 25 (A. Theed, G. Hall, E. Barbarich tries, G. Young dropped goal: R.
