Shirley Wins Well
SHIRLCY IS: D. Cope. W. Boyles tries; I. Behms a penalty goal and two conversions. ALBION 0: D. C. Leary three penalty goals. In a game which produced a dose struggle for forward supremacy and open, hard running from the backs, Shirley capitalised on fundamental errors by the Albion threequarters to gain a narrow but well-deserved win. There was an obvious Inclination by both sides to play open Rugby, and both sets of backs were given good service from the base of the scrum. The Albion number 8, D. Warren, jumped superbly, and the lock, M. Eagle, controlled the lineouts for mufih of the match, but Albion, for all its opportunities and enthusiasm, was again unable to score a try. Sspeclally prominent in the first spell was the Shirley wing, D. Cope, who made some thrilling runs, and M. Mens at centre also made some spectacular breaks. In his defensive play, whin running with the bell, and with hie linekicking, Leary showed M had loat little of hie ability. Referee: Mr J. Cadlgan.
