NEW POLICE PATROL
Arrangement
In Sydenham
Sydenham people wanting the services of the police should telephone the Christchurch Central Police Station from Monday, said Chief Superintendent G. S. Austing. From today, the police sergeant and records clerk at the Sydenham Police Station will be transferred to the central station, and the Sydenham district will be policed by three men with a radio-telephone-equipped patrol car “The quickest way for Sydenham residents to get in touch with the police will be to telephone the central station, 71-889, or 111 if the matter is urgent,” Mr Austing said.
“The Sydenham inquiry men will be patrolling the district in a car, and the communications centre at the central station will get in touch with the car.
“The Shirley-Richmond mobile inquiry patrol, started several weeks ago, has been working well. We expect the Sydenham patrol will also give better and swifter service to the public. “The men on patrol are expected to be on the move all the time, and they will be in touch with the central station all the time,” Mr Austing said.
