S. Vietnamese Concern (N Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SAIGON, August 15. The South Vietnamese Prime Minister (Mr Tran Van Huong) has said that corruption is threatening to destroy the achievements of the Government. Mr Huong made the statement in a circular to Government agencies, the official South Vietnamese ’ news agency reported. The agency said the Prime Minister had decided to push ahead with a country-wide anti-corruption programme aimed at all levels of Government.

It quoted the circular as saying corruption “is a serious illness of the Vietnamese society and, as a result of upheavals caused by the war, corruption has developed to such an extent that it may destroy all best-scored achievements of the Government and the entire people.” | Two days ago the house cf representatives passed a bill to set up an anti-corruption inspectorate with powers to investigate charges of corruption and also to audit the personal properties of Government officials.
