The successful applicant will be required to take up his duties at the earliest possible time. Applicants should be experienced in administration, preferably at the executive level. Previous experience need not necessarily be associated with land and building development but this could be an advantage. Ability to deal tactfully with the academic, administrative, library and maintenance staff of the University is essential. A university degree or professional qualifications are desirable but not essential. The appointee will be expected to assist with the preparation of teaching materials for laboratory and practical classes, and with field experiments. The interests of the Department embrace many branches of production Horticulture and Physiology. Special knowledge in restricted fields is not a requirement as, with a suitable background, this can be achieved quickly in this environment. Starting salary up to $l7OO p.a. and as future prospects are good, the position should be attractive to holders of a Diploma In Horticulture though this is not essential. The position would be quite appropriate for suitably qualified school leavers, as there is ample oportunity to advance on a long term basis. Instruction at all levels is readily available and anyone interested in plants should be amply warded. The appointee would be eligible to join the Government Superannuation fund.
