TENDERS N.Z. GOVERNMENT RAILWAYS Written tenders are Invited for the Riveting of Two Steel Spans for the renewal of bridge No. 236 over the Clutha River on the main south line near Balclutha. Each new span will be erected on top of the existing structure by the department’s staff using drifts and temporary field bolts and the contract will be for driving approximately 6000 rivets per span or a total of 12,000 rivets. It is estimated that the work will extend over approximately eight months, although the riveting of each span should occupy about five weeks. Plans and specifications are available from the District Engineer, N.Z. Railways, Fryatt Street (or P.O. Box 431), Dunedin, and District Engineer, N.Z. Railways, P.O. Box 337. Christchurch.
