First Holder

D. W. McKenzie, a former New Zealand title-holder in athletics, is the first holder of the R. H. Harbison Memorial Cup. It was presented for the first time this year and is awarded to a senior athlete on the basis of performance, service to athletics and sportsmanship. McKenzie has won the 100 yd, 220 yd and 440 yd in the national championships, but last year he was troubled by a persistent leg injury and lost the quarter-mile title. However, during the season he ran the fastest 220 and 440 times in New Zealand. He has also been a member of the executive of

the Canterbury Athletic Centre.
