N.C.C. Action On Vietnam

Continuing concern to find a peaceful solution to the Vietnam crisis had led the Commission of the Churches on International Affairs and the National Council of Churches’ executive to cooperate on several ventures, said the assistant generalsecretary of the N.C.C. (the Rev. R. M. O’Grady) in his report to the council’s annual meeting. The statements of church councils in many countries, together with those of distinguished church leaders, had been brought together in a booklet “To Church People Re Vietnam." About 4700 copies had already been sold. Helpful exchanges of correspondence with the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) in his capacity as Minister of External Affairs had taken place over the possibility of conscription, the Paris peace talks and the general issues of the Vietnam war.
