Talk On N.Z.B.C.
Sir, —1 write to correct an error in a report on page 14 of your edition of Thursday. August 8, 1968. Under the heading “Not reported,” it was stated that the subject of my address on August 7 to the Canterbury University Politics Society was “The New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation’s Political Control." In my opinion, the corporation is not subject to “political control” though it is subjected to all sorts of political pressures. In fact, my talk was about “Television and Politics,” and its main purpose was to discuss the relation of these two things at a programme level. — Yours, etc., I. A. JOHNSTONE. August 9, 1968.
(Our reporter did not stay to hear Mr Johnstone’s address, for reasons explained m his story. The title of Mr Johnstone's address, as announced in the “University Diary” (published by the university’s information office) for August 3 to 10 was “N.Z.B.C. and political control.”—Ed., “The Press.”]
